IUI

IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) is a simple and effective fertility treatment that helps increase the chances of pregnancy by placing specially prepared sperm directly into the uterus during the woman’s ovulation period. This procedure is recommended for couples with mild fertility issues, low sperm count, or unexplained infertility. IUI is a minimally invasive and painless procedure that is usually performed in a clinic without surgery or anesthesia. It helps improve the chances of fertilization by bringing sperm closer to the egg, supporting natural conception in a safe and controlled way.

What to Expect During the Process

During the IUI procedure, you will lie on an examination table with your legs placed in stirrups while the doctor uses a speculum to open the vagina gently. A thin, flexible catheter containing washed healthy sperm is inserted through the cervix into the uterus, where the sperm is released to increase the chances of fertilization. After the procedure, you may rest for a short time before resuming normal activities, though mild spotting may occur for a day or two.

Results should be checked after two weeks using a pregnancy test, as testing too early may give false results due to hormone levels or fertility medications. A follow-up visit and blood test may be done to confirm pregnancy. If pregnancy does not occur, IUI treatment can be repeated for 3 to 6 cycles to improve success chances.
